VAGINAPLASTY

VAGINAPLASTY

Vaginaplasty is a combination of art and engineering.

The most common problem is large flaring labia minoras which interfere with intercourse. This becomes a function problem of concern as well as a cosmetic concern for many women. Vaginas develop with many variations and one size or shape does not fit all. We also see and treat some masculinized vaginas which are challenging. The trick to consistent results is a thorough assessment of the anatomy and the desires of the patient. Treating the anatomy and not the patient, often leads to disappointment. The next step is meticulous marking. Vaginas, like every other part of the body are asymmetrical. Once you inject with local anesthetic, the anatomy is distorted. Infiltrating before marking is a recipe for disaster. At the end of the procedure, the final result should be clearly visible before swelling begins which peaks at three days and resolves by ten typically.
