VAGINAPLASTY / VAGINA SURGERY

Vagina Surgery

Vaginaplasty is a combination of art and engineering.

The most common problem is large flaring labia minora, which interferes with intercourse. This becomes a functional problem of concern as well as a cosmetic concern for many women. Vaginas develop with many variations, and one size or shape does not fit all. We also see and treat some masculinized vaginas, which are challenging. The trick to consistent results, as Dr. Luis Villar emphasizes, is a thorough assessment of the anatomy and the desires of the patient. Treating the anatomy and not the patient often leads to disappointment. The next step is meticulous marking. Vaginas, like every other part of the body, are asymmetrical. Once you inject with a local anaesthetic, the anatomy is distorted. Infiltrating before marking is a recipe for disaster. At the end of the vagina surgery procedure, the final result should be clearly visible before swelling begins, which peaks at three days and typically resolves by ten.
